Life in a village like ours teaches you something important: we are always rolling with the elements.
Some days bring sunshine and laughter, music drifting through workshops and gardens alive with conversation. Other days ask for patience. Yet at Camphill Village, there is something beautiful about learning to move with it all together.
Our village is home to adults with intellectual disabilities. Adults with dreams, humour, talents and the same deep longing we all share: to belong, to grow, to contribute, to feel valued and to live life fully.
And this is where you might come in. Perhaps you have skills gathered through years of living, such as woodworking, sewing, gardening, bookkeeping, baking, music, photography, storytelling, administration or simply the wisdom that comes from experience. Perhaps you love arts and crafts, have a talent for teaching, enjoy sharing practical skills, or simply have time and kindness to offer.
We are always looking for volunteers to help enrich village life. You do not need to be an expert. You do not need all the answers. You simply need a willingness to roll with the elements. To laugh when things do not go to plan. To meet people where they are. To celebrate progress in its own time. To recognise that sometimes the greatest gift we offer is not fixing or teaching but simply being alongside another person. A few hours of your week could help someone discover confidence, uncover a hidden talent, or simply feel deeply seen and valued.
Many volunteers tell us they receive something unexpected themselves: perspective, connection, joy and a renewed sense of what community truly means. So, as we continue rolling with the elements this season, we invite you to consider becoming part of our story.
Share your skills. Share your time. You may arrive thinking you have something to give. But you may leave realising how much you have received. And perhaps, without even meaning to, you may become a legend in someone’s life.
