Just because I haven’t, it doesn’t mean I won’t by Carine Human

At Camphill Village, every person is encouraged to embrace new experiences, discover their potential, and take on new challenges. Sometimes, all it takes is adding one little word: “yet.”

Just becasue

At Camphill Village West Coast, we support, explore, and celebrate every person’s individual life journey. We embrace the steps already taken and the ones still waiting ahead.

Life is full of firsts, no matter our age or ability. Often we stop when we haven’t done or experienced a certain thing, or we stop at the thought that something is ‘not for me’. But, a whole new world may open if we add a simple three letter word ‘yet’ to it. Then we can start considering possibilities and opportunities for ourselves.

Just because I haven’t yet, it doesn’t mean I won’t.

That small shift opens a big door. It reminds us that our potential doesn’t stop where our experience ends. Maybe it’s trying a new hobby, joining a group activity, speaking up in a meeting, or learning a new skill. Maybe it’s something as simple as believing in ourselves a little more each day. Every accomplishment begins with the courage to start, even when we’re unsure. Each new step, no matter how small, builds confidence, connection, and pride.

At Camphill Village, we see that courage every day: residents and staff discovering new interests, making new connections, offering a helping hand, learning new ways to express themselves, and finding joy in the unexpected.

So next time you face something new, remember: You haven’t done it yet — but you can. Let’s keep encouraging one another to say yes to possibility. Because growth doesn’t stop when things get hard — it starts there.
